This private day trip from Sarajevo takes you into the historical heart of Bosnia. Travnik was the seat of the Ottoman viziers of Bosnia for more than a century, and its old town still has colourful mosques, a hilltop fortress and the cool Plava Voda spring, where locals gather for grilled trout and Travnik cheese.

Further along the road is Jajce, the royal town of medieval Bosnia. Here the Pliva river drops as a waterfall right into the town centre — a sight few travellers expect. Above it stand the fortress walls, and just outside town the Pliva Lakes are dotted with small wooden watermills.
